Palos Park Police Offer FREE Kids' Bike Helmets
Free bike helmets for children are available now at the Palos Park Police Department.

PALOS PARK, IL -- If your kid needs a bike helmet, or if child’s head has grown from last year, Palos Park police will be giving out bike helmets. The bike helmets are being distributed to local children as part of the ProRider National Children-N-Safety program. The helmets are FREE.
"Head injuries and falls from bicycles are one of the leading causes of emergency room visits among children, especially during the summer months," Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller said. "Police hope that by issuing the helmets they can prevent head injuries to children riding bicycles."
Wearing a properly fitted helmet is the best way to prevent head injuries or death. This program is available to Palos Park residents only. The bike helmets are now available for pick up.
