Parolee Pinched in Comic Book Store Burglary: Prosecutor

Worth cops were conducting premises checks when they saw the parolee inside Comic Book Asylum holding several comic books, prosecutor said.

Worth police officers caught a man in the act of burglarizing a comic book store during the overnight hours of Dec. 12, prosecutors said in court.

Daniel Swan, 25, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of burglary. The prosecutor also filed a violation of bail against Swan for a pending disorderly conduct charge where he was accused of filing a fake police report. He also has a pending charge for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident. .

According to the charges, police were conducting premises checks around 2:45 a.m. Dec. 12 when they noticed the front door broken to Comic Book Asylum, 6962 W. 114th St. Swan was spotted inside the store holding several comic books in his hands.

The prosecutor said that Swan is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections where he had been sentenced to 27 months for selling fake painkillers on Craigslist and aggravated battery.

The judge set bail for the violation of bail bond at $30,000, and $100,000 for the burglary charge. Swan’s next hearing is Jan. 3 in Bridgeview.
