Party for the Preserves - Camp Bullfrog Lake
Join us at one of our 5 new campgrounds to celebrate the Forest Preserves' nearly 70,000 acres of public land on National Public Lands Day!

Each campground will have a variety of fun activities that highlight outdoor adventures, restoration, nature exploration and cultural discovery. Activities are free to attend. Please note, some activities require pre-registration. To make a dinner or camping reservation, call 1-855-YES-CAMP.

Lose Yourself in the Wild
Escape the city and meet us at one of the densest wilderness areas in Cook County for a relaxing day filled with yoga, paddling, fishing and astronomy. We’ll end the day with music, food and drink.

6 am: Chauncey’s Great Outdoors – ESPN Radio Live Remote. Audience welcome!
7 am: Yoga by PFit
Bring your own mat or use one of ours.
8 am: Fall Bird Hike – meet at Camp Bullfrog Office
A Sagawau Environmental Learning Center Naturalist will take you on a bird hike in the Palos Preserves
8–10 am: Fishing with the Village of Palos Park
10 am–1 pm: Mountain Bike 101 with CAMBr – This is a BYOBike event. The event starts with a beginner clinic followed by a ride. The group may be split based on experience. Participants must have helmets and a bike in good, safe working condition. Please bring water to carry on the trail and be aware that a portion of the ride will be spent on single-track. 10 am–2 pm: Wilderness Hikes with the Chicago Park District
12–3 pm: Meet the Fish of the Forest Preserves
12–5 pm: Outdoor adventure stations including canoeing and kayaking on Lake Bullfrog, GPS hike and an iPad scavenger hunt.
2–5 pm: Nature Drawing Demonstrations with Joe Feliciano
Joe is a Hillside-based illustrator. As both amateur birdwatchers and artists, Joe and his wife Sarah recently completed their first collaborative book together, “Birds We’ve Seen with our Oculars and Binoculars; Volume 1: Some of North America.” Many of the birds illustrated in the book were observed in the Forest Preserves. 6 pm: Guitar and Flute Duo from Moraine Valley Community College
