Peace Memorial Donates Backpacks to Palos 118

Students benefit from generosity of neighbors

To start the 2019-2020 school year, Palos School District 118 received 50 backpacks from Peace Memorial Church’s “Fill the Backpack” program before school began on August 21. Stuffed with grade-specific school supplies such as crayons, pens, pencils, glue sticks, folders, markers, earphones and more, the backpacks will help students in need of essentials. “We are so grateful for the thoughtfulness and generosity of our local community,” said Superintendent Dr. Anthony Scarsella. “Caring neighbors are one of the main reasons our students are so successful.” Students at Palos East and West Elementary Schools and Palos South Middle School will benefit from the backpack donations.
