Moraine Valley Faculty Member Injured In Parking Lot Accident

PALOS HILLS, IL -- A faculty member at Moraine Valley Community College was injured Tuesday morning when the parked vehicle she was sitting in was hit by another car, according to college officials. The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on the Palos Hills campus. The faculty member was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

MVCC spokeswoman Clare Briner said that a driver attempting to pass another vehicle outside Building D lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle jumped a curb and struck the parked vehicle, injuring the faculty member. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Her current condition is unknown, but Briner said the faculty member was conscious and talking following the accident.

The other driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper passing. Moraine Valley police are still investigating.
