Pills Don't Match Man's Prescription Bottles: Cops

A Chicago man arrested after fight with cousin faces felony charges when pill bottles contain random opioids, prosecutor says.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- A Chicago man who was picked up on domestic charge was arrested after he was found to have two different kinds of controlled substances that did not match the prescription bottles, prosecutors said. Wael Karim, 46, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Karim was also charged with misdemeanor battery.

Palos Hills cops responded to a domestic disturbance call around 7:18 p.m. July 4 in the 8800 block of 98th Place. Karim was reportedly involved in some type of altercation with a male cousin. He asked police to take him to the hospital. Karim allegedly asked for his meds from his car, where police four prescription bottles were retrieved. The prosecutor said all the bottles had Karim’s name, but contents in two of the bottles, later determined to be oxycodone and oxycontin, did not match the prescriptions.

Karim has two prior felony convictions for a 2015 burglary and possession of stolen motor vehicle in 1992. Bail on the felony charge was set at $5,000. Karim was also given a $20,000 bail on the domestic battery charge. Karim’s next court date is July 26 in Bridgeview.
