Police Need Help Identifying 7-Eleven Robbery Suspect

A man suspected of similar robberies where employees were made to lie on the floor, robs second 7-Eleven store this week in Palos Heights.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- A man suspected of several armed robberies in the southwest suburbs has struck again, this time in Palos Heights. Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man captured on surveillance cameras as he allegedly held up a 7-Eleven store late Thursday evening.

According to Palos Heights police, the man entered the store at 135th Street and Ridgeland Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Sept. 27. The man made the employee lie on the floor as he rifled through the cash register, stealing $500 cash and two cartons of cigarettes. The employee was not injured.

The suspect is described as a male white, wearing a black stocking cap, black Adidas jacket, purple latex gloves and blue jeans. He had a black shirt covering his face and was armed with a handgun. The modus operandi is similar to another robbery that happened Sept. 24 at a Citgo-7-Eleven store earlier this week in Hickory Hills.

Palos Heights police are working with other area law enforcement and federal partners to identify the suspect. If someone may have seen this man prior to, or following the armed robbery, please contact the Palos Heights Police Department at 708-448-2131.
