Robber Swipes iPhones From Facebook Seller At Gunpoint: COPS

Chicago Ridge man picked up in Palos Heights after holding up seller in Commons of Chicago Ridge parking lot, prosecutor said.

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL -- A Chicago Ridge man robbed a seller of two iPhones at gunpoint in the Commons of Chicago Ridge parking light, prosecutors said. Brandon Lott, 21, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on an armed robbery charge. The deal had apparently originated on Facebook.

The prosecutor said Lott arranged to buy two iPhone 8s for $500 from a seller on Facebook. The two arranged to meet Monday morning in the parking lot at 222 Commons Drive in Chicago Ridge. As the seller handed Lott one of the phones, the prosecutor said Lott grabbed the second one. Lott allegedly pointed a silver handgun at the seller and two passengers waiting in the seller’s car.

The seller and friends gave chase to Lott’s car, the prosecutor said. They were able to jot down Lott’s plate number and give it to police, according to the charges. Lott was picked up in Palos Heights, where police reportedly found a .45 caliber Ruger pistol in Lott’s car.
