Robert (Bob) Mackovitch, resident of Palos Park, loving husband of Janice; former husband of Donna, was called home Friday March the 13th after an extended struggle with cancer. He was Dad to Robb (Nikki), Jeff (Leanne) and Mike (the late Lydia); and later Stepdad to Joe Blaszynski (Denise), Leanne Mackovitch (Jeff), Jason Blaszynski, Larry Blaszynski (prior Samantha Melendez). Bob was proud Baka (grandfather) to Skyler, Spencer, Sawyer, Summer, Sander, Devin, Annika, Zak, Lauren, Megan, Katelyn, Jacob and Alyssa.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ann and George Mackovitch and an older brother George. He was brother to Frank (Sue Mackovitch), uncle to Kim (Ed Dougherty), Danielle (Dave Radzialowski), Kristy (Christian Pfeifer) and Frank, and fortunate to be great uncle to Eddie, Jack, Nathaniel, Charlie and Lilliana. He was brother-in-law to the late Joel and Gail Owens, uncle to the late Scott Owens, great uncle of Felicia and Joel, and great-great uncle to Alaska Sky.Bob was blessed to be brother-in-law t0 Barbara Helzing (Chuck Werner) Nancy Blaski (Jim Bodkin), and uncle to Lisa (Dean Anagnopoulos), David Helzing, Carolyn (Maurice Gualdron). He was affectionately the “bald” great uncle to Michelle, Alexis, Brianna, Mayte, Camilo and Quino. Many others considered him family, good friend and enjoyed his zany sense of humor Bob had a long varied and successful career with (among others) Heller International, Unisys Corporation and ScanOptics, until illness forced his early retirement.
He thrived on lovely vacation venues, yet was very content spending his time near home as husband, father and grandfather. He greatly enjoyed fishing the many ponds around Palos Park, and looked forward to a yearly Wisconsin trip to enjoy those waters and nature. He was a complex man with a simple soul, and will be greatly missed by many.

COVID 19 Virus Concerns:
Being that we are a loving family, it is difficult for us to ask that
while paying respects, please refrain from hugging and handshaking. Bob
would absolutely understand and remind us we can "make up for it
later."
