Ruse Burglars Distract Homeowners In Basement, Rip Off Home
While the homeowners were in the basement with the "power company" worker, his pals were upstairs stealing valuables, Palos Hills cops say.
PALOS HILLS, IL — A man posing as a “power company” worker and his pals burglarized a home while the homeowners were distracted in the basement, reports said. Palos Hills police followed up on a ruse burglary complaint in the 9700 block of South 81st Avenue.
Around 10 a.m. May 2, the homeowners observed a man walking around their backyard. When the homeowners went to confront the man, he them he was from the power company and asked to see the basement.
While the homeowners were distracted, three or four other guys entered the house and removed bills and coins from the residence. Police said the fake power company worker and his friends left the area.
