Friends start GoFundMe fund for Crestwood coach who was fatally shot driving through Robbins.

CRESTWOOD, IL -- Friends have set up a GoFundMe campaign for the family of a Crestwood man who was shot driving through Robbins Wednesday night. Bill Dolehide, 56, received a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, but is being kept alive so that his organs can be donated. No arrests have been made.
A 51-year-old Orland Park man also suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was found about a mile away from Dolehide at 135th Street and Pulaski Road. The investigation remains ongoing.
Dolehide was a popular soccer coach at the Crestwood Soccer Club and water polo referee. He was on his way to soccer club board meeting where he was shot driving his car near 135th Street and St. Louis Avenue in Robbins. Dolehide had called another board member to let him know he’d be early to the meeting but had to stop home in Crestwood first. Dolehide never made it to the meeting.

“I’ve heard different stories about rival gang members or someone shooting randomly at cars,” Toscas said. “[Police] are trying to put the pieces together.”
Dolehide was recalled as a devoted family man with a contagious smile, who volunteered for many activities, friends wrote on his GoFundMe page:
“Bill was very active in his community. He was also a referee for Water Polo. He served as a eucharistic minister and volunteered for many other services and activities at Incarnation Parish in Palos Heights. Everyone who knew Bill has fond memories of his contagious smile, his courtesy, and how he always offered to help his neighbors or friends.”
Dolehide is survived by his wife Terri, and three children, Shannon, Logan and Morgan. Monies raised on GoFundMe will go toward his children’s education fund. Within eight hours of launching the campaign, friends raised over $11,000 toward a $50,000 goal. Visit the Dolehide Family Fund to make a donation.
“There was no one who didn’t like him,” Toscas said. “This is very difficult to take.”
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the Cook County Sheriff's Police Detective Division at 708-865-4896.
