Sandburg Debate excels at ICTA Novice/JV State Championships

Sandburg High School's Debate Team travelled to Conant High School for the ICTA Novice/JV State Championships.

Sandburg High School’s Debate Team travelled to Conant High School for the ICTA Novice/JV State Championships. Lily Kozak and Yaseen Mozaffar were the first seed in the tournament, finishing in third place. Both debaters were rated in the top 10 speakers in the tournament as were Chris Bednarz in JV and Toma Solovey and Bella Wrobel in Novice.

This tournament also allows Varsity team members to judge Novice Rounds of debate. Bill Kolpak and Ally Arena were chosen as outstanding judges in the tournament, and Kolpak also won an award for Best Congress Legislation.

Finally, Lainee McGraw was chosen as Coach of the Year in Illinois by the The Illinois Debate Coaches.
