Update: Lockdown Lifted at Shepard High School, No Weapon Found
Staff still using caution after reports of a weapon on campus or on a bus.

Update, 3:30 p.m.:
No weapon has been found during a thorough search of Shepard High School, staff updated Monday afternoon.
Alan B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights was placed on lockdown Monday at 12:30 p.m. after reports of a ”possible weapon ... on the campus, or possibly on one of the school buses.”

“The Cook County Sheriff’s Department has been conducting a thorough investigation ... The school will continue to be cautious, releasing students room by room to the gymnasium where they will then be released to go home,” staff updated parents.
All after-school practices, activities, and athletic contests have been canceled.

Normal bus routes will run, however, it is possible that student departure times from school may be delayed.
Cook County police will do a thorough search of the building with the help of the Cook County Canine Unit to ensure the building is safe for school tomorrow.
