A student at Alan B. Shepard High School has been charged with aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon after he brought a stun gun to school and used it on schoolmates.
The 17-year-old boy from Alsip was showing off the gun—which resembled a flashlight—and then used it on four students between the ages of 14 and 17, ABC7 reports.

Principal Josh Barron described the incident as ”horseplay,” and said the student must not have recognized the seriousness of the situation.
“We live in a very different world, and we have to take all issues very seriously because you never know when it’s going to be a serious situation,” Barron told ABC7. “And I don’t think he had any malicious intentions here, he thought he was being funny, and it’s not funny, it’s a major issue. Thank God our kids are safe.”
The student also faces disciplinary action from the school.
