Shepard speech wins sixth tournament championship

The varsity speech team last weekend won their sixth tournament title of fall semester. The Astros took the championship at the 30-team Santaburg-Oaklaus Tournament, co-hosted by Sandburg and Oak Lawn high schools.

Medalists for Shepard included Champions-Paige Harkabus, Original Oratory; Second-Jada Scott, Oratorical Declamation; Nick Loquercio and Nick Martinez, Humorous Duet Acting; Nick Martinez, Humorous Interpretation; Riley McDermott, Poetry Reading.

Also, Fourth-Kimberly Rinck, Prose Reading; Leeana Skuby, Extemporaneous Speaking; Sixth-Antonio Martinez, Dramatic Interpretation; Mike Reddy, Informative Speaking; and, Finalists-Kris Reed, Oratorical Declamation; Nick Harnisch, Poetry Reading; Riley McDermott, Informative Speaking.

The Shepard speech team also has won tournaments at Fremd, Downers Grove North, Huntley, Neuqua Valley, and Marian Catholic.
