‘Sheriff’s Office Of Colorado’ Threatens Resident With Arrest
The caller told the resident they had missed jury duty and to send $1,500 to clear the arrest warrant, Palos Hills police said.
PALOS HILLS, IL — A caller from an out-of-state sheriff’s office scared a Palos Hills resident into sending $1,500, reports said.
Officers went to a home on the 9000 block of Deerwood Court for a deceptive practice report. The resident told officers they were contacted Oct. 31 by someone claiming to be from the “Sheriff’s Office of Colorado.” The caller stated the resident had an arrest warrant for missing jury duty. The resident was provided with Walgreens barcodes to be loaded with cash.
According to the report, the resident loaded three barcodes with $500 each. The incident is under investigation.
