Stagg High School Boys Basketball Team presented a check to the Jason Foundation, a nonprofit focused on preventing teen suicide. The donation was raised by team members through its annual Hoops for Hope Free Throw Marathon where individuals sponsor players for each free throw made out of 100 attempts.

Each year Stagg High School’s boys basketball team engages in a similar project. They have raised funds for the American Cancer Society, Shriners Childrens Hospital and St. Baldrick’s, in the past. Coach John Daniels and School Secretary Sue Alberts selected the Jason Foundation as this year’s beneficiary after seeing mental health awareness materials shared by the school’s guidance department.

The Jason Foundation is a national organization dedicated to the prevention of the “silent epidemic” of youth suicide through educational and awareness programs that equip young people, educators/youth workers and parents with the tools and resources to help identify and assist at-risk youth.
