Stagg High School hosts Community Connections for elected officials and leaders
Collaboration is theme of the evening
Elected officials from the Stagg High School community gathered at the school for a Community Connections meeting last night. School Board President Rick Nogal, Superintendent Dr. James M. Gay and Principal Eric Olsen shared highlights about the district and school with a crowd of nearly 40 partner school board members, municipal and township leaders, and state senators and representatives.
Nogal expressed gratitude for the community leaders' enthusiasm and support for education.
With representatives of each of Stagg High School's partner elementary districts in attendance including Districts 117, 118, 127, Nogal lauded collaborative efforts by school boards and administrators to prepare the 25,000 preschool through high school students within District 230's boundaries to be contributing members of the community. Collaborative efforts related to curriculum and instruction and the transition to high school highlight the strong relationships among school districts. The districts have also work in tandem to raise awareness about legislative issues that affect the community including school funding reform.

He also thanked Senator Bill Cunningham and Representative Kelly Burke for their efforts representing the best interests of local schools and communities as the State grapples with difficult decisions in Springfield. He was especially appreciative of their willingness to seek information from school leaders when considering legislation that affects the district.
Nogal extended appreciation to local municipal leaders for their efforts to keep our schools safe, including Palos Park Mayor John Mahoney, Palos Hills Police Chief Paul Madigan, North Palos Fire Chief Mangin. Each of District 230's schools meet regularly with first responders to assure proper safety procedures are in place and to keep the lines of communication open. Stagg High School hosts a Mega Meeting for law enforcement and surrounding high school districts several times each year.
