Stagg High School students welcome Honor Flight veterans

Supported by a District 230 Foundation grant

Twenty-five Stagg High School students welcomed home World War II and Korean Veterans from their Honor Flight last week. Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices. The organization transports heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. The Stagg students were among a large crowd of people who awaited their arrival at Midway Airport.

The evening field trip was made possible through a grant from the District 230 Foundation that was awarded to Social Studies Teacher Jenneifer Baniewicz and David Podkul. Through the grant, students in U.S. History and Pscyhology classes are honoring local veterans. Accompanying the students to the Honor Flight were Baniewicz, Tricia McNicholas, Amal Abdellatif and Cindy Sax.

The District 230 Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting innovative learning at Sandburg, Stagg and Andrew High Schools. Learn more at www.d230foundation.org
