Stagg HS athletes excel at Special Olympics State Summer Games
Chargers bring home 3 Gold, 1 Silver and a 4th Place Finish

The Stagg High School Charger Special Olympics Program excelled at the State Summer Games in Bloomington-Normal.
Becca Gehle won the Gold in the 25 M backstroke with a time of 21.75 seconds. Paulina Leja won the Gold in the 50 M backstroke with a time of 1:10.71. These are the first time in more than 10 years that a Stagg Charger won state in a swimming competition.
Marium Wahid won a Gold Medal in bocce singles defeating her opponent in her final throw to win 12-11.
Bobby Shamasko and Jarred Williams competed in the pentathlon which included 5 events: 400M dash, 100M dash, high jump, running long jump, and shot put. These two athletes competed their events over the span of the entire weekend with Bobby earning a 4th place finish and Jarred earning a 2nd place finish.
The team is coached by Tom Syska, Abby Degliomini, Sharon Chorzempa, and Peyton Carroll.
