Stagg High School Marching Band Drum Majors Mary Baca, Pat Gabel, and Stephen Jackiw gave a great show at the Smith-Walbridge Drum Major Camp, held at Eastern Illinois University in July. Mary and Pat received the honor of drum-major first class, a very prestigious award!
The Marching Chargers have had weekly rehearsals since the summer months began, and met as a full ensemble for the first time in late July.
The students have worked very hard the entire summer, and have done a great job so far preparing their show for the fall, “Beyond the Sky.”

The Marching Chargers arrived at Camp Shaw-Wah-Nas-See in Manteno, IL on Saturday, August 1 and spent five days rehearsing music, learning marching movements, and participating in various team building activities.
“The students set a good pace at camp this year, and it is clearly a testament to their dedication and strong work ethic,” said Director Bob Mecozzi. “The camp was a tremendous experience for all, and many thanks are in order to the parents and staff that helped make it possible.”
