Stagg Taps Brian Berg As Chargers Varsity Football Coach

Brian Berg named new Stagg High School varsity football coach.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- Stagg High School has tapped Brian Berg as the new head varsity football coach for the Chargers. Berg is currently a social studies teacher at Stagg. The appointment was approved by the Dist. 230 school board.

No stranger to Dist. 230, Berg is a 2001 graduate of Andrew High School in Tinley Park and a 2005 graduate of Illinois State University. He holds advanced degrees in school leadership and reading literacy. Berg has spent the last three years as the offensive coordinator for the Stagg varsity football team, leading the 2017 offense that ranked second all-time in Stagg history for points per game. Berg also brings experience as a defensive coordinator at Reavis High School in Burbank. There, he helped guide a program turnaround from a 1-17 record to a 17-2 record in three seasons and a second round playoff appearance.

Berg’s coaching philosophy is to foster a program centered on developing well-rounded student-athletes by enhancing the skills necessary to succeed in the classroom, on the field, and ultimately in life. The program foundation will be built upon “Character, Commitment, and Community.” Berg is looking forward to his new role in the Stagg Charger athletic family.
