Teen Faces Gun Charge After A Loaded Gun Is Found In Car: Police
A male juvenile is facing charges after a loaded, uncased 9mm gun was found in a car during a traffic stop, police said.
PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — An uncased, loaded gun belong to a teen was found in a car during an early morning traffic stop in Palos Heights, police said. The teen, described by police as an underage male juvenile, has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Palos Heights officers stopped a vehicle in the 12300 block of Auburn Avenue for alleged registration violations. During a search of the car, officers said they found a loaded, 9mm pistol was found in the back seat of the car by the teen’s feet.
Deputy Chief Bill Czajkowski said the teen admitted that it was his gun. The teen reportedly has previous arrests for gun charges.

The teen was brought to the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center at 1100 S. Hamilton Ave. Czajkowski said the teen will undergo an intake interview and a bond hearing will be held later at the detention center.
His name is not being released because the teen is a minor. Czajkowski said the teen is not from Palos Heights but resides in the southwest suburbs.
