Walk Or Run With Raider Nation In St. Alexander School 5K
Race With The Raiders 5K features USTAF-certified course, kids dash and prizes to top finishers May 9 In Palos Heights.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- Community members are invited to participate in St. Alexander School’s sixth annual Raider 5k Run/Walk on Thursday, May 9. The USATF-certified 5K course takes runners and walkers through the beautiful streets of Palos Heights. The race begins at 6 p.m. for runners and 6:05 p.m. for walkers.
The race entry fee of $30 includes a performance fit t-shirt. Participants are encouraged to register by April 29 to receive a t-shirt in their preferred size. Registration after this date does not guarantee a t-shirt. Day-of-race registration is available for $30.
A free 100-yard Kids Dash will also be offered beginning at 5:40 p.m. Kids ages 6 and under are encouraged to come out and run for fun. The Raider 5K Run/Walk will start and finish at the St. Alexander parking lot, 126th and 70th Avenue (just east of Harlem). Prizes will be awarded for Top 3 male and Top 3 female finishers.

Through generous efforts of many local businesses and families, more than $100,000 has been raised in the last five years for the St. Alexander School Technology Department. Specifically, the money raised went towards updating and improving the Applied Tech Lab to transform it into a STEM Lab, as well as providing wireless technology throughout the school. Funds from this year’s race will support the school technology program.
Early bird registration is available through April 9 to be entered into a raffle for a free family registration. Runners and walkers can register online or download a registration form off the school’s website, or pledge to sponsor a runner/walker. Raider 5K Run/Walk sponsorship opportunities are also available. Checks should be made payable to St. Alexander School. Completed entry forms can be mailed/dropped off at St. Alexander School, 7025 W 126th St, Palos Heights, IL 60463.

“Our annual 5k Run/Walk is a terrific community event and I encourage everyone to support it. By participating, you can help provide our students with up-to-date technology,” Principal Cathy Biel said. “Funds raised this year will go towards updating much needed media equipment such as projectors and document cameras as well as purchasing a new server in the STEM Lab. iPads will also be purchased for use in various classrooms.”
