Warrant Issued for Parolee Who Stole Cook County Corrections Employee's Purse: Cops

Video captured parolee entering offices at Moraine Valley Community College, Palos Hills police say.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- A Waukegan man is wanted on an arrest warrant for swiping a Cook County Corrections employee’s purse from an office at Moraine Valley Community College, Palos Hills police said in court.

Andre Bellfield, 42, is currently out on parole for a 2011 burglary conviction, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records. Cook County Judge Peter Felice issued a warrant for theft.

According to police, the victim, who was working for the Cook County Corrections Academy at Moraine Valley, reported her purse stolen on Oct. 31. Among the items stolen was her badge. Bellfield was captured on video entering 40 offices.

“There are other victims,” the officer told Judge Felice.

Police said that Loyola University identified Bellfield through a critical reach alert. The purse was recovered.

“At this point, we just want to talk to him,” the officer said.

An arrest warrant for $50,000 was issued.
