White Sox Legend Ron Kittle Joins Moraine Valley's 50th Anniversary Community Bash
Join Moraine Valley on Sept. 16 for a 50th anniversary community celebration featuring food, fun, music, cars, history and mascots.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- White Sox legend Ron Kittle will be joining Moraine Valley Community College’s 50th Anniversary community bash from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. The celebration will be held on the Moraine Valley campus, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills. Admission is free and open to the public.
The former left fielder and home run hitter will be signing autographs and posing for photos from 2:15 to 3 p.m. Attendees can also take photos and visit with mascots Sparky from the Chicago Fire (1 to 2 p.m.), Champ from Saint Xavier University (3 to 4 p.m.) and Boomer from the Windy City Thunderbolts (4 to 5 p.m.).
Other activities are including to help Moraine Valley celebrate its half-century mark. Food trucks and vendors including Lucky Burrito, Doughs Guys Bakery, Smilin’ Clyde’s Hot Dogs, Salerno’s Catering and more will line the circle drive off the 111th Street entrance. Various college departments will also be hosting host interactive activities and demonstrations. Kids’ activities feature face painting, bouncy house, Skiddles the Clown and crafts.

Bring your heap to MVCC for a Classic Car Show that runs all day. Car enthusiasts are encouraged to register in advance. Guests can check out a college historical memorabilia exhibit and a car show all day. Classic rock band Starrs Karma is set to perform from 1 to 2:45 p.m., and surf rock group The Real Gone plays 3:15 to 5 p.m., on the Gateway stage.
All activities will take place near the Gateway on the south side of campus. Moraine Valley is hosting this event to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Sept. 16 is the day the college first held classes in 1968. Visit Moraine Valley Rock Solid for more info about the celebration.
