In one of the home invasions, the suspect told an elderly resident that he needed to disinfect the home for COVID-19, Worth police said.

WORTH, IL — Two incidents of home invasion on elderly residents occurred within a 24-hour period in Worth, and a third failed attempt to get homeowners to answer their door may be related, according to information obtained from police.

The next day, June 8, a man identified himself to another elderly resident as an employee for "Worth Public Works." Police said he told the homeowner that he needed to disinfect the residence for COVID-19, especially around the water faucets. The homeowner wouldn't let him in, but police said he entered the residence anyway and got away with several pieces of jewelry.
