Would-Be Spruce Tree Napper Caught On Video: Cops

Palos Park police believe the alleged tree napper may have been scared off by a homeowner's dogs.

PALOS PARK, IL — A woman is wanted for questioning after a video captured her trying to steal a resident’s spruce tree, Palos Park police said. The attempted tree-napping happened Tuesday afternoon.

The home surveillance video shows a white 4-door vehicle pulling up into resident’s driveway in the area of 80th Avenue and 125th Street in Palos Park. The front-seat passenger, described by police as a thin, dark-skinned female, exits the vehicle and runs over to a flower pot containing a spruce tree. It appears as if she is trying to lift the pot, but instead runs back into the car. Police think she may have been scared off by the homeowner’s dogs.

Anyone with information about the alleged attempted spruce tree theft is asked to contact the Palos Park Police Department at 708-448 2191 or 708-671 3770.
