D'Amico Celebrates Local Business' Expansion at Woodward Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

NILES, Ill. – State Rep. John C. D’Amico, D-Chicago, met with local business leaders and applauded the completion of a new facility that will keep over 900 jobs in Illinois at the ribbon cutting ceremony for Woodward, Inc.’s new facility in Niles.
“Woodward has exemplified what a responsible business can do to keep valuable jobs in Illinois by consolidating to a new facility in the area,” D’Amico said. “I applaud Woodward for investing in Illinois and our hard-working residents.”
D’Amico attended the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Woodward, Inc.’s new facility in Niles and discuss the needs of similar employers with local business leaders. By consolidating their multi-campuses in Niles and Skokie, Woodward, Inc. has moved to a new and environmentally-friendly facility that allows for over 900 jobs to be kept from both places. D’Amico took a tour of the new facility, learning Woodward, Inc.’s lasting contributions to energy control and their role in the commercial and military aerospace industry. D’Amico discussed the need to make sure the state continues to become more business friendly and encourage companies to keep their businesses in Illinois.

“Woodward is excited to consolidate our multiple sites in the area into one large facility. This enables us to optimize our value streams to improve efficiency and quality as well creating a collaborative environment to facilitate creativity and communication,” said Dale Sylvan, vice president and general manager of Woodward, Inc. “We appreciate Rep. D’Amico coming to our new Niles plant to help celebrate our accomplishment and look forward to work together with the community and state to help stimulate economic growth.”
