Rep. D'Amico Invites Residents to Find Unclaimed Money, Valuables at I-Cash Event in Morton Grove

State Rep. John D’Amico, D-Chicago, is helping constituents find unclaimed money and other valuables they are owed from state by hosting an I-Cash event with the Illinois State Treasurer’s office on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. to noon at Morton Grove Farmers’ Market located at 6210 Dempster St. in Morton Grove.
“A little money left in an old bank account or a forgotten check can make a difference in a family’s budget,” D’Amico said. “I want to do everything I can to help my residents make ends meet and receive money they may not even know they are owed.”
D’Amico is partnering with representatives from the treasurer’s office, who will help local residents search for unclaimed property in the state’s I-Cash database, and fill out the necessary paperwork to claim what they find. According to the treasurer’s office, the state is holding $2.1 billion dollars in cash and additional assets that need to be reunited with the rightful owner. These assets can include old paychecks, overpayments on bills, stocks or certificates of deposits.
“The treasurer says one in eight Illinoisans has an asset to be claimed in I-Cash,” D’Amico said. “While people search for their property, my office will be available to those who need assistance with state services or want to discuss my legislation and efforts in Springfield.”
