Edward Oken Awarded Sgt. Karen Lader Good Citizen Award by Maine Township

After 14 years of faithfully serving others, Edward Oken is honored by Maine Township at its Annual Meeting.

On April 25 at the 167th Maine Township Annual Meeting, Edward Oken of Park Ridge, second from right, was honored with the Sgt. Karen Lader Good Citizen Award.

Here, L to R, is Clerk-Elect Peter Gialamas who chaired the award selection committee, Mrs. Georgiana Oken, Oken, and Supervisor Carol A. Teschky. Lt. Arthur Jackson of the Cook County Sheriff’s Police, not shown, was on hand to honor Oken.

Sgt. Lader was very active in Maine Township during her shortened career especially with the Neighborhood Watch program and the National Night Out Against Crime. She died in 2010 after suffering with cancer.

Oken was honored for 14 years serving in the FISH program who helps seniors travel to and from medical programs. He is an Army Reserve veteran and a member of Park Ridge American Legion Post 247. Oken is the 7th winner of this award.
