Electronics Recycling & Document Destruction October 20

Recycle your old electronics this fall.

On Saturday, October 20, 2018, the City of Park Ridge and the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce will host a Document Destruction and Electronics Recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon, sponsored by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), and free to any resident that lives in a member community. Materials will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools or institutions.

To assist the Chamber of Commerce with its community projects and recycling efforts, a $5 donation is being requested, for which residents will receive a $5 coupon to use at select businesses on purchases of $20.

Volunteers needed, to unload recycling items from vehicles. Call or email the chamber. Must be at least 13 years old and attend a SAFETY BRIEFING at 8:45 am before event begins and have parent sign a waiver if under 18. Please: Wear closed shoes.

PAPER: Acceptable documents can include medical forms, bank statements, personal files and retired tax forms. There is a limit of six (6) file boxes or paper bags and all plastic, metal clips or binders must be removed. DO NOT BRING PAPER IN PLASTIC BAGS. Paper is cross-shredded on site and will be recycled at a mill to make new paper products.

ACCEPTED ELECTRONICS: Answering machines, Cable Receivers, Calculators, Camcorders, Cameras, CD and DVD players (no discs), Cell Phones, Computer Cables, Computer Monitors, Computers (Desktop, Notebook, Tablet), Converter Boxes, Fax Machines, Keyboards, Microwaves, Mice, MP3 players, Portable Digital Assistants (PDAs), Power Tools and Cords, Printers, Satellite Receivers, Scanners, Shredders, Small Home Appliances (Toasters, Blenders, etc), Stereo Equipment (no wood), Telephones, Televisions, Typewriters, Video Game Consoles, Video Recorders/Players (no VHS tapes) and Zip Drives.
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED: Dehumidifiers, Humidifiers, Air Conditioners, Vacuum Cleaners, Refrigerators, Large Appliances, Copiers, Postage Machines and Lead Acid Batteries.
