Harbour Hustle at One Rotary Center will benefit homeless youth

Community residents are invited to participate in the first annual Harbour Hustle on Sunday, June 30 at One Rotary Center in Evanston

Community residents are invited to participate in the first annual Harbour Hustle on Sunday, June 30 at One Rotary Center, 1560 Sherman Avenue, Evanston, IL. The event is a fund-raiser, hosted by The Harbour, a social service agency dedicated serving young women experiencing homelessness in the North/Northwest Suburbs.

This event was designed to bring The Harbour services into one of the many communities that it serves to build awareness, share the mission, and come together to shine a light on youth homelessness.

“The Harbour was established in 1971 and remains a vital part of our communities; giving young women a safe place to sleep, essential support to continue their education, and assistance in planning for stable housing when family is no longer an option,” said Kris Salyards, Executive Director.

“Runners will climb 18 flights of stairs, twice! This climb is a reminder that when the task is hard, having a team and support behind you helps us achieve. Our girls thrive with the support of our community, and with you behind them, they achieve great things.” Salyards points out. “Please join us, and climb for community, climb for safety, and climb for a promise of a better tomorrow for young women in North/Northwest Suburban communities.”

About The Harbour

The Harbour provides a comprehensive continuum of housing and case management services to youth in crisis, ages 12 to 24, in the North and Northwest suburbs of Cook County. Since 1971, The Harbour has provided housing and supportive services to community youth in crisis in the North and Northwest suburbs of Cook County.

In recent months, “Harbour 24/7,” was launched, an initiative to reduce barriers to access, create a text for help line, and offer social media as a platform for reaching crisis staff. Funds raised from this event will help us further develop this initiative, keep young women safe and give them an opportunity to find stable housing, education and employment.
