Maine Township Hosts Document Shredding Day to Benefit Glenkirk

Working between the rain drops at times, Maine Township comes through for Glenkirk with its shredding day

Maine Township finds unique ways to help residents and local social service agencies.

Maine Township hosted a document shredding day on June 4 to benefit Glenkirk, one of the social service agencies the township helps support. The shredding was done by Opportunity Secure Data Destruction Company, a division of Glenkirk. The day saw 255 vehicles come through the Maine Township Town Hall parking lot to offload over 5,000 pounds of sensitive documents that needed secure shredding. The Township pays for the cost of the shredding truck service. Elected officials, volunteers and members of the Township’s Office of Emergency Management under Director Dagmar Rutzen were on hand to assist residents. There is no charge to residents for the service.

Inside the Town Hall, the township also maintains an electronics collection station which benefits Avenues to Independence. The station collects toner cartridges, Mp3 players, cameras, LCD monitors, games consoles, cell phones, laptops, and many other electronic items. For information on the program and a list of accepted items call 847-297-2510 or stop by Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Rd., Park Ridge from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
