Maine Township MaineStreamers Donate Supplies to East Maine School Dist. 63

Seniors from the MaineStreamers made a generous donation to help students in East Maine School Dist. 63.

Maine Township’s Senior Group Kicks off the School Year with a Generous Donation to East Maine School District 63

More than 3,600 students headed back to East Maine School District
63’s seven schools this week – and just in time, Maine Township’s
MaineStreamers seniors delivered hundreds of schools supplies to help
out as the school year got underway. Gathered in August at the group’s
monthly luncheon, the cornucopia of items included everything from
backpacks and markers to notebooks and glue sticks.

Dr. Scott Clay, District 63 Superintendent, was delighted. “When
school districts, townships, and other institutions work together to
create a caring, connected community we all benefit,” he noted. “Our
partnership with Maine Township is a great example. We deeply appreciate
the MaineStreamers’ generosity – and we’re always very proud when our
schools support the Township Food Pantry as well.”

“Seniors in our MaineStreamers are incredibly committed to the larger
community,” added Township Supervisor Carol Teschky. “And this is
something new for them! The group often collects food donations at its
monthly luncheon, but this summer they put a twist on that and decided
to gather supplies. District 63 serves so many of the children in the
Township; donating these much-needed items was one way we could make a
difference.”

The Township’s 3,000+ member MaineStreamers group
offers a variety of opportunities for seniors – including day trips,
classes, and other activities. Open to all Township residents aged 55
years and older, membership is free. For information, visit www.mainetownship.com or call 847-297-2510.
