Maine Township Officials Visit Springfield

As the closest government to the people for over 150 years, Maine Township continues to serve residents daily with unique services.

Officials share the good news of what townships provide.

On April 6 Maine Township Trustees Walter Kazmierczak, right, and Kimberly Jones, middle, traveled to Springfield for the Annual Township Topics Day. Organized by the Township Officials of Illinois, this year's theme was "Neighbors Serving Neighbors".

During their visit, the pair had an opportunity to meet with their legislators to discuss important issues facing townships. Here, they visit with State Representative Michael McAuliffe.

"For over 150 years, Maine Township has been the closest government to the people and daily serves the unique needs of both those living in the unincorporated area and, in most cases, also those living within the city limits of one of the five communities in our township," says Township Supervisor Carol A. Teschky.
