The Pickwick Restaurant to Close Doors After 5 Decades in Park Ridge

A Park Ridge restaurant that has been a part of the community since the 1960s and was once frequented by Hillary Clinton will soon close its doors.
The Pickwick Restaurant, which anchors the landmark Pickwick Theatre building on the corner of Prospect Avenue and Northwest Highway in Park Ridge, is set to close on Dec. 7, and a new restaurant will open in its place next spring, according to the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate.

It’s unclear why the restaurant, which serves up patty melts, burgers and ice cream sundaes, is closing, the newspaper reports.
The restaurant was put in the national spotlight when journalist Barbara Walters interviewed then-U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton in one of Pickwick’s booth as part of Clinton’s promotional tour for her memoir, “Living History,” according to the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate.

Clinton used to visit the Pickwick often when she was growing up in Park Ridge and the restaurant created ”the Hillary burger,” which was topped with olives, in Clinton’s honor, the newspaper reports.
