Shelby Campbell’s Almost Famous Restaurant in Elk Grove Village, Ill., operated by First Hospitality Group, Inc. (FHG) placed fifth in RedEye’s third annual Battle of the Burgers. First Hospitality Group, Inc.
Shelby Campbell’s Almost Famous Restaurant was voted to compete as one of the top ten finalists in a field of over 100 Chicago-area restaurants. The restaurant’s signature Shelby’s Mushroom Swiss Supreme Burger, crafted by chef Felipe DeSantiago, joined the top 17 finalists on July 23 at The Chicago History Museum for the live final.
“We are honored to have our food awarded as one of the top burgers in the Chicago area for the second consecutive year,” said FHG President & CEO, Bob Habeeb. “Chicago is filled with some of the best restaurants and we are proud of our team at Shelby Campbell’s Almost Famous Restaurant.”

Shelby Campbell’s Almost Famous restaurant was named after the eccentric Chicago-native Shelby Campbell, who tried and failed at several different things that made him “almost famous,” including running for president and writing screenplay. Today, Shelby Campbell’s Almost Famous restaurant features flame grilled burgers, sandwiches and specialty steaks, in addition to a wide beer and wine selection.
