Sun and Moon Yoga Nearing Anniversary

Park Ridge based Sun and Moon Yoga owner Carlie Chislof said she'll be celebrating her three year anniversary this March.

Sun and Moon Yoga has been open in Park Ridge for more than five-and-a-half-years. But owner Carli Chislof will be celebrating her third year anniversary this March.

How is that possible?

The 29-year-old Wheeling native worked at the business since it opened, and would later purchase it from the original owner.

"It was always a dream of mine to someday own a yoga studio," Chislof said. "I didn't think it was going to happen this quick. The previous owner fell in love and moved away. She asked me if I wanted to take it over.

"I thought about it long and hard. I worked there since it was open. I taught there since the day it opened. And then, I took it over," she added.

Prior to working at Sun and Moon Yoga, 2026 Oakton St., Chislof worked as a waitress at a retirement home for four years.

"There were definitely some good life lessons there," she said. "Working at the retirement home taught me a lot of stuff. [The residents] were really picky sometimes and I learned how to deal with people and keep a smile on my face."

Chislof also worked for her dad's chiropractor business.

"I learned the backside of everything," Chislof said. "From finances, computers - just about everything. I learned a lot working for my dad."

Why Park Ridge?

"I think Park Ridge is a great area," she said. "I love all my students. Not all of them know about yoga, but the residents here are really open to it.

"When I decide to move back to the suburbs (Chislof currently resides in Wicker Park), I am definitely going to move to Park Ridge."
