Lawsuit claims woman fell on protruding support base on casino floor after gaming machine had been removed.

A woman is suing over claims that she fell and injured herself while visiting a Chicago-area casino.

Irene Brisco filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Midwest Gaming and Entertainment, which does business as Rivers Casino.

According to the complaint, Brisco was visiting Rivers Casino at 3000 S. River Road in Des Plaines on March 4, 2013, when she fell over a protruding supportive base for a gaming machine.

The lawsuit alleges that the casino owners and operators left the supportive base after they had removed the gaming machine.

The base was allowed to remain in that condition for a sufficient passage of time that the owners and operators should have known it would pose harm to the plaintiff and other patrons, the complaint said.

As a result of her fall, Brisco says she injured herself requiring medical, surgical and nursing care. She is asking for damages in excess of $50,000.

The law firm of Larry L. Fleisher and Associates is taking on the case.
