• Pekin to purchase body cameras for non-police city employees (wmbdradio.com) — Pekin is outfitting its building inspection and code enforcement staff with new Axon body cameras to better document inspections and confrontational encounters. The city council unanimously approved a five-year, $40,241 package covering eight cameras, software, cloud storage, training, and support, with costs front-loaded in the first year and lower annual payments afterward. 
• These employers are hiring high-paying roles in the Peoria area (pekintimes.com) — If you live in or near Pekin and work in heavy industry, NRG Energy is hiring a well-paid maintenance supervisor and planner position based right in town. The roundup also highlights several other six-figure opportunities across Peoria, East Peoria, and Tremont for experienced professionals in engineering, quality, marketing, and HR-related roles.
• Illinois Secretary of State program to reduce wait times at DMVs (centralillinoisproud.com) — Starting Sept. 1, Pekin residents using busy Illinois DMVs will need appointments under the new Skip the Line program aimed at cutting wait times. While only Peoria and Bloomington DMVs will add Saturday hours locally, Pekin drivers can still book visits online or by phone and are encouraged to use online renewals whenever possible.
