E15 gas at $4.04 per gallon in Peoria County in week ending Aug. 29 (peoriastandard.com) — Drivers in Peoria County recently saw E15 gas as low as $4.04 per gallon, with the countywide average at $4.16 for the week ending Aug. 29. Only two of 77 reported stations offered E15, as regional refinery outages and global oil tensions continue to push prices higher across Illinois and the Midwest.
4. National sporting goods retailer set to open soon in Peoria (eastpeoriatimescourier.com) — Peoria shoppers will see a new option this fall when national chain JD Sports opens October 17 at Westlake Shopping Center next to Michael's. City Councilman Andre Allen says the addition strengthens Westlake's role as a regional shopping hub and reflects efforts to keep Peoria's retail corridors competitive and growing.
5. OSF expands AI use to assess strokes (wcbu.org subscription) — Peoria's OSF St. Francis Medical Center, already a major stroke hub, is now sharing its Rapid AI imaging tools across all OSF hospitals, including rural facilities. That means Peoria neurologists can review high-quality scans from smaller communities on their phones, speeding decisions about clot-busting drugs or emergency transfers and potentially improving stroke outcomes across central Illinois.
