National sporting goods retailer set to open soon in Peoria (eastpeoriatimescourier.com) — Peoria shoppers will see a new option this fall when national chain JD Sports opens October 17 at Westlake Shopping Center next to Michael's. City Councilman Andre Allen says the addition strengthens Westlake's role as a regional shopping hub and reflects efforts to keep Peoria's retail corridors competitive and growing.

OSF expands AI use to assess strokes (wcbu.org subscription) — Peoria's OSF St. Francis Medical Center, already a major stroke hub, is now sharing its Rapid AI imaging tools across all OSF hospitals, including rural facilities. That means Peoria neurologists can review high-quality scans from smaller communities on their phones, speeding decisions about clot-busting drugs or emergency transfers and potentially improving stroke outcomes across central Illinois.
