Report: Peoria listed among deadliest U.S. cities (centralillinoisproud.com) — Peoria has been ranked the 18th-deadliest U.S. city based on 2018 murder rates, with local homicides already surpassing that year's total. Community leader Chris Duncan and Peoria Community Against Violence are partnering with families, pastors, and schools to support youth, reduce shootings, and change the city's trajectory.
   

2. Two dead, three hospitalized after South Peoria shooting, pedestrian hit (wgnradio.com) — Two men are dead and three others hospitalized after Peoria police responded to gunfire near Southwest Jefferson Street early Saturday, then pursued a fleeing vehicle that fatally struck a pedestrian and later crashed. Investigators recovered a firearm, are probing multiple connected shooting victims, and are working with Illinois State Police on the crash as the homicide investigation continues.
   

3. Energy costs rising in Illinois. Are you eligible for assistance? (pjstar.com) — With energy costs climbing, Peoria Township leaders and local nonprofits told Rep. Eric Sorensen that many residents, especially seniors, are struggling to keep up with bills. Ameren, while absent from the roundtable, is promoting assistance programs and tips through Peoria-based 104.9 The Wolf to help central and southern Illinois customers reduce summer energy burdens.
   

4. Peoria Motorcycle Club crowns its Caterpillar Peoria TT champions (pjstar.com) — Peoria's long-running Caterpillar Peoria TT races drew big crowds Saturday as riders battled through multiple main events at the Peoria Motorcycle Club's Thunder Valley track. Dallas Daniels headlined with a SuperTwins win, while Tom and Sam Drane claimed victories in Singles and ProSport 450, continuing the city's storied flat-track racing tradition.
   

5. 'All about the weather': Local creator keeps Illinoians informed (pjstar.com) — A Pekin-based weather enthusiast who remembers a major 2008 storm hitting Peoria now runs massive Facebook weather communities serving Illinois, including many Peoria followers. He and his volunteer team provide free, detailed forecasts and dramatic storm photos, aiming to keep residents informed while building connections from farmers to city-dwellers.
