Peoria Park District Board seeks best move for Detweiller Marina's future (centralillinoisproud.com) — Peoria Park District leaders are stepping into negotiations over Detweiller Marina to keep the riverfront playground, green space, and trail access available as a public recreational asset. The board has authorized outreach to the Detweiller Trust and O'Brien Steel to find a financially sustainable ownership and management plan, and they're asking residents and community partners to stay engaged as options are explored.
   

2. Bradley University sees 36% increase in first year enrollment (centralillinoisproud.com) — Bradley University in Peoria is welcoming a much larger incoming class this fall, with first‑year enrollment up more than 36% and 1,600 new students overall. Leaders credit heavy community outreach, new majors, and campus improvements, and say the highly engaged freshman class and focus on retention should boost both campus energy and the broader Peoria economy.
   

3. Photo exhibit explores Peoria's 'forgotten sculptor' Joseph Petarde (wcbu.org) — Peorians can explore the city's architectural history through a new photo exhibit on sculptor Joseph Petarde at Peoria Public Library's Main Library, running October 1–28. Nearly 40 large-scale images by his great-great-grandson highlight whimsical stone details on familiar local buildings, with an opening celebration October 3, when the city will also recognize Joseph Petarde Day.
   

4. 64th Peoria Fine Art Fair returns to the riverfront this weekend (wmbdradio.com) — Peoria's riverfront turns into an open-air gallery this weekend as the 64th Fine Art Fair brings in 107 juried artists, live music, and kids' activities. Running Saturday and Sunday, the event costs $10 for adults, while children 12 and under and Art Guild members get in free, with members also enjoying early entry each day.
   

5. Bradley Basketball to Host Red-White Showcase, Presented by Walters Brothers Harley Davidson on October 17th (bradleybraves.com) — Bradley basketball fans in Peoria can get an early look at the men's and women's teams during the free Red-White Showcase at Renaissance Coliseum on Saturday, October 17. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. for introductions, scrimmages, merchandise, and season-ticket pickup, with remaining ticket packages later available at the Peoria Civic Center on game days.
