• Nominations being accepted for 2026 First Citizen Award (thepetersburgobserver.com) — You’re invited to help choose Petersburg’s 2026 First Citizen by nominating a neighbor who makes our town better every day. Forms are available via email or at local banks and Hand of Fate Brewing, and must be returned to the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce by August 31, with the award presented after the Harvest Fest parade.
   

• Petersburg Student on Augustana Honors List (thepetersburgobserver.com) — A local congratulations is in order for Petersburg’s own Trace Donnan, an applied mathematics major who earned a spot on Augustana College’s Dean’s List for the 2025–26 spring semester. The honor recognizes students maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA, highlighting strong academic achievement from one of Petersburg’s young residents.
