PLAINFIELD, IL — Twelve sixth graders from Ira Jones Middle School will represent District 202 in Peoria as members of the All-State chorus that will perform at a one-day event later this month, the district announced on Wednesday.
The young vocalists will participate in the 2022 Illinois Music Education Association Elementary All-State chorus event on Jan. 29 at the Peoria Civic Center. The chorus is made up of fifth- and sixth-grade musicians who were nominated by their instructors.
The one-day elementary school chorus event is held in conjunction with the Illinois Music Education Association’s state conference and all-state student programs for high school students. The students selected for the all-state chorus were nominated by Ira Jones Middle School choir director Karen Blair.
