12th Annual Alumni Hall Of Fame Nominations Open For District 202

PLAINFIELD, IL — District 202 is looking for nominations for the 12th annual induction into the Plainfield Foundation for Excellence Alumni Hall of Fame. Know someone who graduated from the district at least 20 years ago and is doing exciting things in life? Now is the time to nominate them.

In the Alumni Hall of Fame, dating back to 2011, the district honors "graduates who have distinguished themselves beyond their high school years through their significant accomplishments or service." Nominations for the distinction are due by Jan. 12, and they'll be reconsidered for two years following submission.

An application form can be found on the Foundation for Excellence's website. By being chosen, graduates will have their significant accomplishments or community service efforts recognized through awards, honors or other forms of distinction, officials said in a news release Tuesday.

Candidates can be nominated in a number of categories, including arts and entertainment, business and commerce, community service and volunteerism, education and humanities, government and military, medicine and health, philanthropy and nonprofit, science and technology, and sports and recreation.

One requirement for the nomination is people should have graduated from a District 202 high school at least 20 years prior to their nomination. This can be excused if candidates entered military service prior to their graduation or other special circumstances, officials said.

District 202 community members, current or former faculty and staff, alumni and administrators can nominate someone for the Hall of Fame. Posthumous nominations will also be accepted.

A panel of Foundation trustees will judge the nominations, and winners will be honored at the annual dinner and auction that's typically held in April.
