17 D202 Student Earn 'Commended' National Merit Rank

PLAINFIELD, IL — Seventeen Plainfield School District 202 students have been named "commended" students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program, officials announced.

The students, representing all four District 202 high schools, placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2023 competition conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Although the commended students will not continue in the competition for scholarships, they are among 34,000 students nationwide who received the ranking due to their "exceptional academic promise," district officials said.

The students entered the competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
