173 Tickets Issued: Plainfield PD Thanksgiving Campaign Results Are In

Plainfield officers ticketed drivers for infractions including improper seat belt usage, speeding and driving on suspended licenses.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police were busy issuing tickets during the Thanksgiving holiday. Official results were released Monday, and officers unveiled they made 173 total citations.

The "Click It or Ticket" mobilization lasted from Nov. 17-26 and served to remind everyone on the road to buckle up and drive safely.

Here's the breakdown of citations during the week-long enforcement:

  • 76 seat belt
  • 10 child car seat
  • 4 suspended/revoked licenses
  • 44 speeding
  • 39 others

Police also gave out 13 written warnings and made one warrant arrest.

"We issue tickets to remind drivers and passengers that seat belt use is not a suggestion, it is the law," Traffic Sergeant Eric Munson wrote in a news release. "This year's campaign was successful in grabbing people's attention with highly visible enforcement methods. As always, our goal is a safe community with safe drivers."
